About us
Research Institute for Precious Metals and Metal Chemistry (fem) in Schwäbisch Gmünd has been active for almost 100 years as an independent and non-profit institute in the fields of surface technology, metallurgy and precious metals. Its task is to conduct applied research in the specified fields and to implement the results in industrial practice.
Competencies
The Precious Metals and Metal Chemistry Research Institute is the world's only independent precious metals research institute. In addition, its special expertise lies in the comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment of all issues relating to materials science and surface technology. To this end, the fem has an extensive range of equipment at its disposal. This is reflected in the fem's accreditation for around 200 procedures.
