German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf

About us
The DITF Denkendorf is Europe's largest textile research center. The three research areas of textile chemistry and chemical fibers, textile and process engineering, and management research cover the entire textile value chain from molecule to product. These activities are supported by an affiliated ITV Denkendorf Produktservice GmbH, which as a technology transfer center provides the market with a wide range of services, supports these activities. The scientists implement the latest results from fundamental and application-oriented research for the textile sector and set new standards with their developments. This applies not only to products, but also to manufacturing and analysis processes.

Competencies
The DITF's competence centers, founded in 2020, combine strengths and promote and use synergies between the individual research fields. In each individual competence center, research and development is carried out along the entire textile production and value chain. The competence centers are as follows:
Biopolymer Materials; Chemical Fibers & Nonwovens; High Performance Fibers; Polymers & Fiber Composites; Staple Fibers, Weaving & Simulation; Textile Chemistry, Environment & Energy.

Areas of business
The DITF researches high-performance fibers and materials, new and adaptive processes in fiber and yarn production, and textile finishing and functionalization. State-of-the-art technologies are used in all research areas; for "Textile 4.0", the potential of digital IT and communication technologies is also being exploited. A wide range of textile testing services, prototype construction and a pilot factory complete the offering.
